Seven Clans Casino Warroad
Warroad, MN
Built in 2014, this new facility will provide a gaming area of 600 slot machines and six table games, a 120 seat bar and restaurant with an outdoor deck which seats 56, a 52 seat snack bar, an indoor spa, and a 60 room hotel.
The biggest challenge presented by this project was the schedule and winter conditions. Woodstone worked with DSGW Architects and the Owner to accelerate the schedule of the opening of this facility significantly. Originally, the facility was slotted to be open to the public in December of 2014. However, the owner pushed hard and asked that the facility be client ready before this original date. Despite one of the worst winters on record and losing weeks of work time over the winter due to site closures, Superintendent Dave Kammueller Sr. and Project Manager Paul Hanson managed to deliver this facility 6 weeks ahead of our Contractual deadline.
Another challenge presented by this project was its remoteness, located just 20 miles from the Canadian Border on Lake of the Woods, Warroad has a population of just 1,770 people. Knowing that the local subcontracting market would not be sufficient to staff this build, Woodstone planned and budgeted for bringing in companies from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota to execute the project. Even with the additional costs that are associated with bringing in non-local subcontractors, Woodstone Builders completed this project under budget and ahead of schedule.
