Today marked a historic and meaningful day for the Spirit Lake Nation as we gathered together for the Ground Blessing Ceremony for the future Spirit Lake Health Center.
This project represents more than a building — it represents an investment in the health, safety, and future of our people for generations to come. The strong turnout and support shown today reflected the shared commitment to ensuring our community has access to safe, quality, and culturally grounded healthcare services right here at home.

It was especially fitting that today’s ceremony took place on National Nurses Day, as we recognize the essential role healthcare workers and caregivers play in protecting the well-being of our communities every day.
Chairwoman Lonna J. Street shared that this project is about ensuring Spirit Lake families have access to the healthcare services they need while continuing to build a healthier future for the Nation.
While today was the beginning through this groundbreaking ceremony, we look forward to the day when we can all come together once again to celebrate the opening of a new facility dedicated to serving the people of Spirit Lake.
