This Owner was looking for the best value in a new sports facility. Comparing building new to renovating existing, Woodstone Builders assisted in analyzing many options, and was able to determine that renovating an existing building would-be the best option in current market conditions.
Completely modifying the spacing to accommodate the court layout, new footings were installed, new columns, and beams.
New heating/ cooling system was installed to maintain player comfort and help stabilize the large area of wood flooring. 4 – 10 ton rooftop units were used. Remote monitoring systems w used to track the systems operations.
State of the art equipment was installed from Spalding, including backboards, motorized height adjustment on hoops, pads, retractable volleyball nets with judges stands, curtains between courts. Other equipment includes movable bleachers, scoreboards for each court with wireless controls. With all the motors and possible court setups we needed some controls that were easy to operate and understand that the Owner uses frequently. For example if the volleyball teams come in on Tuesday, it is a few simple key strokes and all the baskets will raise, and all the volleyball nets will lower. So set up takes one person a few minutes instead of multiple people a couple hours to set up volleyball.
The front office area also contains a large concession area for 300 people along with classrooms, large restroom facilities, storage rooms, and warm up areas.
